Preston grew up in Ensley and was proud to be a graduate of the University of AL, in Tuscaloosa. He spent his career in the surety bond insurance business, primarily representing The Hartford, where he was well respected and admired by his peers. His family was told many times that no one ever heard a negative word about Preston. He was well loved by all who knew him. He always had a kind word for everyone as well as a mischievous twinkle in his eyes. At the age of 55, Preston began painting abstracts and soon had many fans. In 2009, his art was displayed in the Alabama Symphony's Decorator's Showhouse. He was grateful to have his art hanging in homes of other artists, decorators and an international corporate office. Predeceased by his parents, Meredith Eugene Edwards and Lila Leigh Wells Edwards, Preston is survived by his wife of thirty years, Lindy Schulhafer Edwards and daughter Maggie Manning Little, her husband Miles, granddaughters Lucy and Caroline Little, sister Sheila Davenport and husband Al , step-daughter Shannon Carter, her husband Gene and daughter Lauren, as well as numerous much loved nieces and nephews. The family wants to thank Freddie Gordon for his years of care and devotion to Preston. Preston's life will be celebrated during a private family gathering at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to the ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) Association of Central AL, Muscular Dystrophy Association, Collat Jewish Family Services or the charity of your choice.
