Marjean Goodroad Nolan
Marjean Goodroad Nolan Marjean Goodroad Nolan, 75, passed peacefully on February 22, 2020 in her home at Rancho Mirage, California. She was surrounded by her husband, Gary Nolan, family and friends, after a courageous battle with ALS. Rude's Funeral Home in Brookings, SD assisted Marjean's family with arrangements. Marjean Kaye Goodroad was born October 12, 1944 in Watertown, SD to Arnold and Rose Goodroad. Marjean received her Bachelor of Science in Education at The University of Nebraska in June, 1966 and in May, 1982 she graduated with The Degree Master of Arts in Education at the University of Colorado in Denver. Marjean moved to Costa Mesa, CA and was a counselor at the Orange Unified School District. While in Orange County she met Gary Nolan and were married on July 25th, 1992 in Newport Beach, CA and soon moved to Rancho Mirage, CA. Marjean was a manager at the Palm Springs International Film Festival, worked with The Palm Springs Follies, volunteered at voting registration sites and was a frequent attendee at the McCullum Theatre and concerts in the park. She found great joy in music whether it be attending Andrea Bocelli concerts, playing the piano, joining the local drumming sessions or searching out the next Elvis or Queen tribute event. Marjean dedicated her life to family, friends and her students. Each deeply touched by her enthusiasm and energy to live life to its fullest. At the time of her death Marjean was survived by her husband Gary and daughter Julie Nolan and her sister, Geraldine Aune (CJ); sister Donna Klapprodt (Don) and sister Karla Griffith (Mike). As of the date of this publication she was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Rose Goodroad, and her husband, William (Gary) Nolan, passed August 1, 2020.
