In memory of
Dana R. Turner
GILSON - Dana R. Turner, born May 30, 1960, from Gilson, has gone to be with his Lord and Savior on Sept. 10, 2020, after a short battle with cancer. He was 60 years young. Dana was a graduate of Galesburg High School in Galesburg and a graduate of Scott Community College Truck Driving School in Bettendorf, Iowa. Dana worked at Hi-Lo Grocery in Galesburg while in high school. He then worked for many years at Gamble Music in Galesburg, mostly repairing electric organs. He started truck driving for Star Transport and left that employment to do local deliveries of campers for Arensdorf Transport. He retired and went on permanent disability. Dana loved helping out on the farm with his best friend Don Dredge Jr. He also enjoyed helping others with whatever they needed, especially with mechanical, electronic or computer gadgetry. He ran lights and sound for the local band Dark Crystal in the 1980s. He was a very giving person and never knew a stranger. He had a love of drag racing and enjoyed talks with his mentor Stan Stripe. Dana was an avid "Doctor Who" fanatic. Dana was preceded in death by a brother, Meredith Ray; grandparents, Glenn and Leona Buck of Galesburg; aunt, Louisa Buck, Galesburg; uncle and aunt, Ron and Mary Jane Turner; and his father, William David Turner. Dana is survived by his mother, Betty J. (Buck) Turner, Rock Island; an uncle, Steve Buck, Galesburg; a brother, Patrick (Patty Mccaughey-Turner) Turner, Bettendorf, Iowa; a sister, Shannon (Boyd) Bringolf, Athens; cousins, Brandi Buck, Galesburg, Rob (Susan) Buck, East Galesburg; aunt, Sandy (Gary) Housenga, Albanhy; his godson, Joe Richardson (Crystal Smith); many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; aunt, uncle and cousins in Oklahoma; and a special friend, Jerri Herslow.
