John Joseph Bollin (September 15, 1930 - August 20, 2020) John (Johnny) Bollin of Farmington Hills, MI and Tequesta, FL passed away peacefully on August 20, 2020 at his home with his devoted wife and best friend of 40 years, Sandy, and sons Gerrit and Stephan at his side. John was the son of Stephan and Wilhelmina (Glatz) of Rochester, NY. John was preceded in death by brother, Edward and sister, Jeanette Clarke. John enlisted in the Army with his best friend, Dick DuMontier in November 1950 and served 2 years in Germany during the Korean War as a Translator among his other responsibilities. He attended Michigan State University after the Army. He went back to Rochester and began his career as a "Packer" for an established salesman. After a short time in Pittsburgh with Superba Cravats, John accepted a position in Michigan. During the 42 years, John received many awards and accolades for his professional work ethic. He became Vice President and sat on the Board of Directors of Superba in Los Angeles. John was a world traveler on business buying silk and on pleasure to China, Europe, and cruising the Baltic Sea. John retired after 42 years, stating, "There hasn't been a single morning I haven't enthusiastically gotten up in the morning to meet the challenge of life and selling. I am retiring with the woman I love and children and grandchildren that make my life worth living." John leaves his devoted wife, Sandy, and loving children Thomas (preceded in death 2005), Kurt (Pasadena, CA), Gerrit (Putney, VT), daughter Eve (Pasadena, CA), and Stephan (Claremont, CA), Daughter-in-law, Connie Halderman White (Denver, CO), 10 amazing grandchildren Kyle Marie, Eryn (Kurt), Cameron, Leah (Thomas), Guy Jr., Zoe (Gerrit), Annika, triplets Willem, Robert John, and Thomas (Stephan). He will be missed by all who loved him including many nieces and nephews in Michigan and New York. Cremation arrangements were made at Thayer-Rock Funeral Home in Farmington, Michigan. Donations in John's memory may be made to the MS Society which was near and dear to his heart. A military funeral will take place in spring/summer 2021. "Auf Wiedersehen Johnny; 'til we meet again."
