Michael A. Giannavola Webster - Suddenly on Friday, September 11, 2020, at age 75. Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Predeceased by his parents, Michael and Rose (Filardo) Giannavola, and brother, Anthony Giannavola. Survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Patricia (Carlevatti) Giannavola; daughters, Karen (Tom) Alexander, Tracy (Frank) Lippa; adoring grandchildren, Michael and David Alexander, Matthew and Emily Lippa; sister, Rita (John) Ratkovicz, many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and his brothers in RPD. Born August 22, 1945 he was in the first graduating class of RL Thomas High School, Webster. Marrying his high school sweetheart in 1965; he proudly began his career as a Rochester city police officer. Michael said he became a police officer because he wanted to make the world a better place. Recipient of commendation awards for bravery, he graced every life he touched. Mike stayed active with retired police groups, the Locust Club and Italio (Italian American law enforcement officers of greater Rochester). He retired from the RPD in 1988 and had careers as Vice President of Security at Kleen Brite corporation and Director of Security at Frontier. His greatest work, what he dedicated all of his love and time too, was taking care of his family. He was very proud of the family he and Patty raised, and the people they surrounded their lives with. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at 11 AM; St Joseph's Church 43 Gebhardt Rd., Penfield. Those wishing may visit www.sjcpenfield.com/video to participate in the mass online. Family will receive friends and relatives after mass in front of the church for a socially distant receiving line. Interment at White Haven Memorial Park.
