Wheeler, James 9/26/1946 - 9/14/2020 Sparta James "Jim" D. Wheeler, age 73, formerly of Grand Rapids, unexpectedly passed away on Monday, September 14, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Elaine Wheeler; and brothers, Bob and Frank Wheeler. He is survived by his loving bride of 51 years, Karen Wheeler; children Brian (Amanda) Wheeler, Jeff (Jennifer) Wheeler, Jessica (Chris) Trochanowski, and Timothy (Andrea) Wheeler; grandchildren Jacob, Cassandra, Danielle, Marissa, Miranda, Kostek, Zeke, and Zoe; and siblings Rosanne (David) Burden, Matt Wheeler, and Alan (Tricia) Wheeler. Jim graduated from Catholic Central High School with the class of 1964. He then enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served as a radio operator for a Hawk missile battalion during the Vietnam War. After returning home, Jim worked as a Television Systems Engineer for 40 years, the last 23 of those years for NASA in Houston, Texas before retiring. The family has receive friends and family at the Beuschel Funeral Home on Thursday, September 17, 2020, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. A service was performed at 4:00 p.m. under the auspice of the Kent County Veterans Honor Guard.
