James Albert Sykes Rochester/Webster - On the evening of September 11th, James Albert Sykes passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the age of 75. Jim was born in Rochester, NY on April 7, 1945. He soon moved to Webster, NY and spent much of his life there, raising a family, working at Xerox and was a member of Cooper Marine Post, Webster Kiwanis, American Legion Webster Post 942 and the Nine Mile Point Club. Jim was known for his big heart, quick wit and unique sense of humor. He was a lover of life and enjoyed golfing, reading and watching westerns, playing cards, wrenching on cars and most of all, being with friends and family. He served our nation proudly in Vietnam and was honorably discharged from United States Marine Corp in 1966. Predeceased by his wife, Cristel. Jim is survived by his sister, Diane VanNess; sister-in-law, Jeanie Sykes; children, James "Jamie" Sykes Jr, Edward "Ted" Sykes, Cindy Higgins, Carrie Sykes, Frank Sykes and Todd Sykes; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Friends may call Wednesday, September 16, from 4-7 PM at the funeral home (1031 Ridge Road, Webster). A Graveside Service will be held Friday, September 18, 10 AM at West Webster Cemetery, Ridge at Maple Dr. CDC COVID-19 protocols will be observed.
