John Gavar Dunlap July 22, 1978 - September 7, 2020 John, also known as Gavar spirit, departed this life on Monday morning Sept. 7, 2020. John Gavar was born in Jersey City, N.J., and spent his early years in East Orange, N.J., before moving to Boonton, N.J., where he grew up. John Gavar was a free spirit who loved the summertime and making people laugh. John Gavar loved to drive cars and he loved spending time at the lake, beach and cooking out. John Gavar's life was turbulent at times, but he was a peaceful, loving, and compassionate person. John Gavar cherished his family and old friends and we cherished him. Although his physical body has left us, we know he has his wings is smiling down at us. John Gavar leaves behind seven children, Veronica Dunlap, Michael Dunlap, Olivia Dunlap, Elijah Dunlap, Daniel Dunlap, Jacob Dunlap and adoptive son, Christian Perdomo; his mother, Jacqueline L. Sims; and father, John Dunla; and stepmother, Gail Dunlap; sisters, Jackie Jatia Dunlap and Lanora Owens Santiago, and brothers Quan Dunlap, Siaheed Dunlap, Shaguy Weekly and Scott McCarthy. He was the grandfather of Louis C. Sims, and favorite uncle of Carl L. Sims, and is survived by and a host of other relatives and friends. John Gavar also leaves behind wife, Casandra Smith Dunlap. We know you are driving through Heaven, drive on in peace. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Walk-Through visitation, 5 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 17, from West Funeral & Cremation Service. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Walk-Through visitation, 10 a.m. to 12 noon, Friday, Sept. 18, from A Better Life Ministries, 129 Linden Ave., Jersey City N.J.
