NEA LYNN IRELAND July 23, 1942 ˜ August 25, 2020 On Aug. 25, 2020, Nea Lynn Ireland passed away at home after a nearly two-year battle with ovarian cancer. Nea Lynn was born in Taylor, ND on July 23, 1942 to Erling R. Paulson and Helen M. Merz and was the eldest of four siblings. She grew up on a ranch and often referred to herself as “just a little old country girl from North Dakota.” In 1959, Nea Lynn graduated from Model High School in Dickenson, ND and was the class valedictorian. She obtained a BA degree in English (magna cum laude) from Concordia University Moorhead, MN in 1963. In 1983, she received her Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Oregon. Nea Lynn had a very diverse career. She started out as a parish worker for the Lutheran Church after graduation from college. Among other subsequent jobs, she did inside sales for a hydraulics firm in Colorado, worked in transportation at Lane County, was an Adjunct Instructor at the U of O, owned a teen night club in Eugene, and was a financial analyst at the City of Portland. She ended her career as a project manager for the City of Portland when she retired in 2001. Nea Lynn married Gordon Jacobson in 1968 and they later divorced. In 1986, she married Dexter Robinson. He passed away in 1991. Finally she got together with the love of her life, Curt, in 2000. They were married in 2009. In all, they spent 20 wonderful years together. Nea Lynn enjoyed traveling in Europe, reading about medieval and renaissance history, listening to jazz and classical music, playing the piano, and watching U of O football. Go Ducks! Nea Lynn was predeceased by her parents; nephew, Avery Paulson; and her former husbands. She is survived by her husband, Curt; and her siblings, Zane Paulson (Jodi), Weston Paulson (Donna), and Kim Valleen (Mark). In addition, she is survived by her nieces and nephews, Justin Hausauer (Kristen), Raquel Knutson (Darren), Damian Paulson (Magan), and Kai Valleen (Jasper). At her request, there will be no service.
