In memory of
Dorothy Goldstein Rancho Mirage - December 8, 1916-August 19, 2020 On August 19th, beloved Mother, Grandmother and friend Dorothy Goldstein passed away peacefully at her home in Rancho Mirage, surrounded by love and warmth, just shy of her 104th birthday. Always the life of the party, she will be deeply missed, but her friends and family celebrate her life instead of mourning her passing, and it was indeed a life well-lived. They laugh through their tears and regale each other with countless stories, anecdotes and legends about the family's matriarch, their very own version of "Auntie Mame." A character as colorful as the desert landscape that she loved, Dorothy was devoted to her friends, family and community. A member of Tamarisk Country Club for 61 years, she was a constant presence at artistic and cultural events, which she supported with a passion. Born in Dayton, Ohio, the daughter of Charles and Anna Groban, her life spread across a century and a country from Ohio to Illinois, Wisconsin and California, while her travels took her around the world. Following the passing of her first husband, Chester Adler, she married the widower George Goldstein and inherited his family in the deal. She was a loving Mother and Grandmother to six grandchildren, five great grandchildren, as well as countless other relations and friends. Her family is grateful for the loving devotion and care she received from her caregivers in her final years that allowed her to remain in the home she loved so dearly. She was buried next to George in a private burial in Chicago, and there will be a celebration of her life at a later date in Rancho Mirage. Dorothy was a passionate supporter of many charities and the family asks that in lieu of flowers you please consider donating to the charity of your choice in her memory.
