In memory of
Mrs. Elizabeth S. Ruyle
Mrs. Elizabeth S. Ruyle, 87, of Ft Walton Beach passed away August 14, 2020. She was a native of Williamson, W. Va but was a long time residence of Ft Walton Beach. Libby was married to her beloved Ralph Ruyle for over 58 years at his passing on December 12, 2014. They met and married when she was a young woman of 23 while working in the government in the nation's capital of Washington, DC. She fell in love, rather quickly as it were, with this dashingly handsome gentleman in an Air Force uniform. They were married at the Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland and would spend many years transferring around the globe together in places like Kansas, Germany, and Guam to name a few. When Lt. Colonel Ruyle retired from the Air Force, they settled in Ft Walton Beach after they had been stationed here on a tour of Duty earlier. Libby loved the Florida landscape and its people and vowed to never leave. She did not, though urged to do so to be nearer to family members out West. Most of her family has passed away, including her twin sons, Robert Murphy of Las Vegas and Herman Murphy of Port O'Conner, Texas. Her beloved grandson, AJ Ruyle that she had raised and Stepson, Eric Ruyle of Ft Walton Beach, have also passed. Libby is survived by two (2) grandchildren, Aaron Murphy, of Henderson, Nv and Rosalee Murphy, of Las Vegas, Nevada. Her Daughter in Law, Barbara Murphy also of Henderson, Nv was to become her "Daughter" and serve as a joining link with her family members so far away. Theirs was a unique and special bond that would last more than 40 years. Libby was, indeed, a Special lady. Those that knew her will most assuredly recall her dry wit and snappy returns. She will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held at the Westminster Presbyterian Church of Ft Walton Beach where she and Ralph were founding members. Her love and loyalty to the church where Ralph had been a deacon and an elder, was another reason that she desired to remain here in Florida. The service will be at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at 2 Woodham Ave. Please join us in a celebration of her life and to usher her to heaven to, at long last, join her beloved Ralph. He was her true love and she missed him with all of her being. Family members may be reached at 850-862-1571.
