In memory of
Robert L. Larrowe
Robert Lawrence Larrowe, 87, of Huntsville, AL passed away August 6, 2020. Bob grew up in Vermont and Upstate New York. He graduated from Gloversville High School (NY) and Cornell University (NY). Upon his graduation from Cornell in 1954, Bob married Nancy Banker Serviss from Gloversville, NY and enlisted in the United States Air Force. A proud serviceman, Bob served his country as a navigator on RC-121s, C-119 Flying Boxcars, C-124s, and C-5s. He flew many trips to the far east in the C-5, taking cargo to Japan and Okinawa during the buildup of the Vietnam Conflict. Including his Air Force Reserve years, Bob retired from military service in 1962 with the rank of Major. His civilian career began with Travelers Insurance in the Commercial Bonding Division, which allowed his family to live in a variety of locations throughout the United States. Drawing on this experience, Bob moved to Baton Rouge, LA and with his partners, renegotiated new companies to eventually form Cory, Tucker and Larrowe, a successful insurance bonding company. After his retirement, Bob and Nancy moved to Huntsville in 2000. They celebrated 54 years of marriage before Nancy's passing of Alzheimer's in January 2009. Bob always strived to be an involved and productive member of his community. He was a proud founding member of Cove United Methodist Church where he helped establish C-Groups and led his own group until he passed. Bob was also passionate about positive service and contributions to Northeastern Bible College in Vermont and Kairos, Prison Fellowship. He served as a board member at Burritt Museum. In 2010, Bob married Rebecca Taylor. Their marriage was comprised of traveling, socializing with their many friends, enjoying each other's company and sharing their strong Christian faith. Their compatibility was on display on a daily basis as they never shared a cross word. Their devotion to each other was inspiring to family and friends. They described their relationship as a true blessing and felt blessed that their two families became one. For all who knew Bob, his knowledge and love of his country, airplanes and cars was exemplary. He has been quoted as saying "If possible I would own a new car every month." Bob was the consummate southern gentleman (although from the north) had a tender heart and took enormous pleasure in making new friends, always genuinely interested in learning about others. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Reverend and Mrs. Lawrence Larrowe, his sister, Nancy Jean Larrowe Larson and his first wife, Nancy Banker Serviss Larrowe. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Taylor Larrowe, his brother in law, Glen Larson, his children, Richard Larrowe (Carolyn) of Corvallis OR, Susan Larrowe Schlessel (Jerry) of Huntsville, Scott Larrowe (Tina) of Beaux Bridge, LA, 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. A Life Celebration Service will be held at Whitesburg Baptist Church, South Campus, 7300 Whitesburg Drive at 10:30, Tuesday, August 11, 2020. Dr. Jimmy Jackson and Dr. Darryl Craft will officiate. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to: Northeastern Bible College Mark Ballard: President P.O. Box 4600 104 Rocher Drive Bennington, VT 05201 Kairos, Prison Fellowship P.O.
