Hoeksema, Ronald Ronald J. Hoeksema, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, age 82, of Byron Center formerly of Dorr, went to be with the Lord Friday, April 24, 2020. Ron was well known in his community as an owner of Hoeksema Hardware and Lumber; he also served for over two decades on the Dorr Township Fire Department, retiring as Chief. Ron was very active in his church and served in many different roles over the years. People will remember his enjoyment of cars and his red Corvette. Ron loved being in the outdoors and biking on the Kent Trails or just sitting in the sun. Above all, Ron loved his family and spending time with them - especially his grandchildren. A public visitation with Ron's family will be held Sunday, August 16, 2020 from 1-4 p.m. with a memorial service following at 4 p.m. at the North Park in Dorr, located at 1855 - 142nd Ave. Casual summer clothes are encouraged as it's a summer day in the park. Those attending the memorial service are encouraged to bring their own lawn chair and bottled water.
