Howard Wayne Bethke
Mr. Howard Wayne Bethke of Grand Rapids, Michigan, age 80, passed away on the evening of Sunday, August 2, 2020. Howard was born on October 23, 1939, in Grand Haven, Michigan, to George and Margaret (Crouse) Bethke. Howard proudly served his flag and country in the United States Navy, stationed in Guantanamo Bay during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Howard retired from Smiths Industries (formerly Lear Siegler, and now General Electric), where he worked for thirty-eight years as an electronic technician. He enjoyed running, downhill skiing, and traveling-- especially to places like Alaska, England, France, Mexico and New Zealand. Howard is survived by his beloved wife of forty-seven years, Dorace Louise (Buttone) Bethke; his brother Thomas Bethke of Grand Haven; his sister Beverly (Glenn) Baggott of Grand Haven; numerous nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law Barbara (Delvis) Clary of Swartz Creek, Louise (George) Bethke of Edmond, Oklahoma; and Dorothy (Douglas) Bethke of Grand Haven. Those wishing to offer an expression of sympathy are encouraged to make a memorial contribution to Faith Hospice; or to the Salvation Army of Grand Rapids. Services will not be held at this time.
