In memory of
Joan M. Beeckman
Beeckman, Joan M. Bay City, Michigan Mrs. Joan Marie Beeckman, age 89, our beautiful mother, was called to the home of our heavenly Father on Monday afternoon, August 3, 2020 at Toni & Trish House, with her family by her side. The daughter of the late Arthur and Genevieve (Slazinski) Dore, she was born on August 9, 1930 in Kawkawlin. We will miss mom tremendously but are happy that she is now with her husband, parents, sisters and brothers who have gone before her. Mom enjoyed playing bingo, golfing, bowling, crossword puzzles, playing cards, sewing, and going to the casino. She taught each of her children and many of her grandchildren to be good Catholics and the meaning of sharing. As an example, mom prayed the rosary every day and one of her favorite TV channels was EWTN. On June 25, 1949 Joan was united in marriage to Virgil Beeckman and he preceded her in death on August 30, 2000. She is survived by their 10 children, Paul Beeckman, Nancy (Tom) Klopp, Cindy Sinchak, Sheri (Dan) Hollister, Charlene (Harry) Miller, Bob (Sue) Beeckman, Bill (Barb) Beeckman, Peggy Burke, Becky (Dave) Sexton and Amy Hurley; 31 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; a brother, Art Dore; two sisters-in-law, Elaine Dore and Mary Gorman; and several nieces and nephews. Joan was also preceded in death by two brothers, Fred Dore and Edward Dore; two sisters, Janet (John) Gorman and Marie Dore; her parents-in-law, Arthur and Elizabeth Beeckman; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Shirley Dore, Arthur (Dora) Beeckman, Ruth (Norbert) VanTol, Dorothy (Grant) Bates, Neil (Maureen) Beeckman, Erma Sharland, Evelyn (Ed) Morgan, Edna (Alex) Walraven and Norbert (Julie) Beeckman. The family would like to thank the caregivers of Toni & Trish House for their compassionate care during her last several days, New Hope Bay staff, and for everyone throughout the years who helped mom in any way. The Funeral Mass will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2020 at Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish, St. Hyacinth Church. Fr. Richard Filary will preside with private Rite of Committal at Floral Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those wishing an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish, wishes of the family (for masses), EWTN Channel, or Toni & Trish House. Visiting hours will be at the Trahan Funeral Chapel on Friday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday after 10:00 a.m. Due to the current health concerns and gathering limitations, social distancing will be observed and everyone will be required to wear a mask at the funeral chapel and at the church.
