Captain Kyle Dodd
Capt. Kyle Dodd, 31, of Oneonta, AL., passed away on July 28, 2020. His service with Center Point Fire district began as firefighter paramedic 03/29/2013 promoted to Fire Lieutenant on 05/14/2018 and Fire Captain on 06/16/2019. Captain Kyle Dodd was a highly trained firefighter paramedic. He completed training certification in multiple disciplines including firefighter suppression, hazardous materials, technical rescue, incident control/command and fire service leadership. His fire service training was completed through the Alabama Fire College, National Fire Academy and FEMA. Captain Dodd was a dedicated member and leader at CenterPoint. During his service he participated in numerous organizational committees and activities including - Hiring / New Employee, Health and Wellness, Fire Hose, nozzles and tools officer, Honor Guard, Golf tournament board, Combat Challenge Team, and was instrumental in several community public outreach events. During his career Captain Dodd received multiple letters of Commendation for life saving actions. In 2015 he was awarded Firefighter of the year and was also a recipient of Physical fitness excellence award. Preceding him in death were his parents Ken and Dianne Fluharty Dodd and his grandmother Lessie Fluharty. He leaves behind is loving wife Chelsea Dodd; sons Easton, Tucker and Sawyer Dodd; siblings Jimbo Butts (Gina), Kenny Dodd (Christina), Kevin Dodd (Michele), and Kerry Dodd (Cassie); siblings-in-law Kyle Goodwin (Ashley), Raquel Tawbush and Coty Tawbush (Justice); mother/father-in-law David Tawbush (Linda); father/mother-in-law Randy Goodwin (Laurie); a host of nieces and nephews; his brothers and sisters of the Fire Department. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at Lemley Funeral Home from 5 PM until 8 PM. Funeral service will be held on Friday, July 31, 2020 at First Baptist Church of Oneonta at 11:00 with Chaplain Mel Wade, Chief Coleman and Chief Booth officiating. Burial will follow in Altoona-Walnut Grove Cemetery. He will lie in state at First Baptist on Friday, prior to the service from 9 AM until service time.
