Tom Gildersleeve
On Saturday, July 25, Tom Gildersleeve, went home to be with the Lord. He was born in Oscoda, MI to Margaret and Wayne Gildersleeve. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Michigan College of Mining and Technology. Tom was truly a "man after God's own heart." He was a loving husband, father and a servant of God. He was also a mentor and teacher to his children, grandchildren, and many others. Full of wisdom and kindness Tom was well known for his wit and humor, acts of service, love of singing and his faith. His heart for the Lord led him and several other men to begin the "Hardly Able Construction Crew" in 1997. To date this group of people have completed 4,803 projects with 2,971 being wheelchair ramps. He was a faithful member of Lynn Haven United Methodist Church for over 40 years and served in several capacities. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Janet Joy Gildersleeve; mother and father, Margaret and Wayne Gildersleeve; his brothers, Wayne "Bud" Gildersleeve, George Richard Gildersleeve; his sister, Beverley Ball. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Joanna Gildersleeve. His daughters Cathy (David) Brown; Susan (Ron) Washburn; Dianna Eubanks; Linda (Brad) Campbell. His sons David (Stephanie) Gildersleeve and Michael (Mari) Gildersleeve. He is survived by his brother Bruce (Carroll) Gildersleeve, 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Lynn Haven United Methodist Church, 3203 Minnesota Avenue, Panama City, FL on Tuesday, August 18 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Hardly Able Construction Crew c/o Lynn Haven United Methodist Church, Alzheimer's Association or Covenant Care Hospice.
