Bruinsma, Mary 7/31/2020 Grand Rapids Mary Bruinsma (Verboom), age 95, was escorted by her beloved Savior Jesus to be reunited with her husband and love of her life, John, on Friday, July 31, 2020. She is also being reunited with her sister Dorothy Lucas, in addition to other family members and wonderful friends. Mary was passionate about teaching students at Eastern and Vandenberg elementary schools in Grand Rapids. She was also a long-time member of Central Reformed Church leading the Keenager Group for many years. Mary loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren very much by welcoming them into her home on any occasion and making sure they never left hungry. Those who remain to cherish her memory are children Daniel Bruinsma, Elizabeth Anderson, Dr. John (Debra) Bruinsma, and Dr. Benjamin (Lynne) Bruinsma; grandchildren Sara, Daniel Jr.(Sarah), and David (Lisa) Bruinsma, Rachel Anderson, Erika (Steve) Wilmers, Christine, Benjamin, Emily, Abigail, and Evelyn Bruinsma; great grandchildren Kieryn, Asa, and Adrian Bruinsma, AJ Suncar, Bentley Park, and Adam Wilmers; special nieces JoAnne Verboom and Dory (Tom) Schomberger. The family would like to express their thanks for the compassionate and caring staff of Holland Home Raybrook Manor and Faith Hospice. A private graveside service was held. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be given to Holland Home.
