Joyce Ann Powell
YANCEYVILLE- Joyce Ann Powell, 84, of Yanceyville, NC, went home to be with the Lord on July 15, 2020 after being in declining health for the past several years. Joyce was born in Caswell County on January 4, 1936 a daughter to the late Thomas Marshall Powell and Annie Kate Ferrell Powell. She lived in Caswell County where she was a graduate of Bartlett Yancey High School. After graduation, Joyce moved to Washington D.C. where she worked for the US State Department. Joyce remained in this position in Washington until she left to return to Caswell County to care for her ailing mother. After her mother's death, Joyce returned to the workforce as a manager for Brantley Properties until her retirement. Joyce was an avid gardener, an incredible cook and a very dedicated caregiver for her entire family. She will be greatly missed. Joyce is survived by two brothers, Earl Powell, (Reba), of Roanoke, VA, David (Jim) Powell, (Brenda) of Yanceyville, NC and several nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, four brothers, Melvin, John, Clarence (Pete) and Ed Powell, four sisters, Edna Powell, Judy Powell Atkins, Janice Powell and Frances (Lee) Powell Youngs. Funeral Services for Joyce will be conducted from the Graveside at 6:00 p.m. on August 2, 2020 in the Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church Cemetery with the Reverend Rick Webster officiating.
