June Oneta (End) Crume
June Oneta (End) Crume June 3, 1923 - July 10, 2020 June Oneta (End) Crume was born in Summerville, Ore., June 3, 1923, and was the eighth of Antone and Oneta (Atkinson) End's nine children, growing up and working on the family farm throughout the 1920s and 1930s. June was married in 1940, to Leonard Crume, and relocated to Hermiston, Ore. From 1942 to 1970, June was a homemaker, part-time housekeeper, and business partner in Leonard's trucking company and mobile home park operations. During the 1950s and 60s the couple raised three children and enjoyed their civic participation in the small town of Hermiston. In 1952, during a family camping trip, June was the victim of a camp stove fire, and endured several years of reconstructive surgery as a burn victim, traveling the long miles, on the historic Columbia River Gorge Highway, and Highway 99, from Hermiston to Seattle. In 1970, June's irreconcilable differences with Leonard led her to seek a divorce, and she moved to Portland. There she pursued a career with the Adventist Hospital, in the housekeeping department, and diligently worked her way up in the organization. In 1978 June passed her test to become a pharmacy technician and enjoyed another 30 years of service and camaraderie with her colleagues. June was known for her amazing skills in the kitchen, baking several flavors of homemade pies every holiday season. She loved working outdoors in her yard, and was an avid gardener, envied for her magnificent rose bushes and lilies. June loved to travel and was especially fond of the Oregon Coast. June spent many years living near her daughter Ruth, fulfilling their mutual vows of endearing friendship throughout her retirement, and sharing humorous stories with the rest of the family of their travels together. On July 10, 2020, June passed away at the age of 97 during a peaceful night's sleep. We will miss her but find comfort in knowing that she is now dancing and celebrating again in heaven. June is survived by her daughter, Ruth Ann and Ruth's husband, Gene Loveland; her first son, Larry Crume and his wife, Sonia; and second son, Leslie Crume and his wife, Patty; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
