Robert E. Spahn, 94, of Evansville, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at the Linda E. White Hospice House. Bob was born September 3, 1925 in Evansville to the late William and Olivia (Elsner) Spahn. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving on LST 582 in the Pacific during World War II. Bob was a life member of VFW Post 1114; enjoyed wood carving and was a charter member of the Evansville Woodcarvers. He was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, St. Boniface Catholic Church and retired from Bristol Myers after over 32 years of service. In his retirement, Bob also worked as an usher the Victory Theatre and at The Centre. Surviving Bob are his wife of 70 years, Ruthmae (Laine) Spahn; daughters, Jan Spahn, Nancy (Bob) Fischer, Carol Ann (Bob) Neisen and Peggy Zoglman; one sister, Rose Anne Braun; brother, Gilbert (Betty)Spahn; seven grandchildren, Jeff (Susan) Fischer, Julie (Luke) Rumschlag, Greg Fischer, Matthew (Danielle) Neisen, Kyle (Brittney) Neisen, Eric (Mallory) Zoglman and Neil (Malory) Zoglman and ten great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by two sisters, Marion Tieken and Leona Kinnaman. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rev. John Brosmer officiating. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, where the Vanderburgh County Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military rites. Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 until 7:00 PM on Friday at Pierre Funeral Home and from 9:30 AM until service time on Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
