Keith Mercer, Jr. Evansville, Ind. - Keith Mercer, Jr., 33, of Evansville, Indiana, left this life on Sunday, July 26, 2020. Keith was born in Evansville, Indiana on February 9, 1987. Keith played baseball for North High School where he was proud of the fact that he went 2 for 3 off Lance Lynn (who went on to pitch for the Cardinals) in the IHSAA state final game, in 2005, his senior year. Keith attended Indiana University his freshman year and then University of Southern Indiana where he played baseball. Throughout high school and college he played baseball on the American Legion Eugene Pate League. His passion was sports whether he was playing them or watching them. He, himself was a natural athlete and an avid fan of St. Louis Cardinals and Indiana University. Anyone who met Keith, liked him. He had a kind heart, a generous spirit, and spoke ill of no one. Keith also had a great sense of humor and could imitate famous comedians, including Jim Carrey, Will Ferrell and Chris Kattan. He had a love for all animals, especially his cat, Luna. Above all else, his family was everything to him. His nieces and nephew were the apple of his eye and never failed to bring a big grin to his face. Keith is survived by his parents, Keith and Kathy Mercer of Newburgh, IN; sisters, Leah Mercer (Kim Witherspoon) of Jacksonville, FL, and Kathryn Elliott (Scott) of Evansville, IN; his grandmother, Marcella Stein, Evansville, IN; a nephew, Cash Elliott; and nieces, Georgia and Marlow Elliott. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm on Friday, July 31, 2020 at Browning Funeral Home,738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711. A celebration of Keith's life will begin at 4:00 pm on Friday, July 31, 2020 at Browning Funeral Home.
