Elizabeth "Betty" Smith
Smith, Elizabeth "Betty" MILAN, MI Age 93, passed away Tuesday July 28, 2020 at home. She was born April 29, 1927 in Detroit, to George and Della Shine. She was a 1944 graduate of Milan and married Vernon Smith on June 29, 1946, he preceded her in death on June 12, 1992. Betty was an active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic church, a devoted wife and mother, worked at Young and Ost and volunteered in the community. Many organizations she spent tireless hours included the Milan Library Board (20 years), Meals on Wheels, Saline Hospital, Aid in Milan (38 years) and the Catholic church. Betty also enjoyed reading, social gatherings, attending church and being with family. Survived by her children: Susan (Greg) Allen of Tecumseh, David Smith of Dearborn and Timothy (Denene) Smith of Milan, nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and brother-in-law Bernard Reilly. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her sisters: Shirley Shine, Donna Sponsler, Doris Reilly and daughter-in-law Diane Smith, (married to David). Visitation with social distancing and face mask requirements will be at Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home, Milan on Thursday, July 30th from 5-8pm. Funeral Mass will be 11:00am. Friday at Immaculate Conception Church, 420 North St., with visitation at 10:00am. Burial at Marble Park Cemetery, Milan. Contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
