On Friday, July 24, 2020, Rafael Oswaldo Mollega Sr, loving father of two sons and five grandchildren, passed away at the age of 80. Rafael was born November 29, 1939 in Caracas, Venezuela to Gustavo and Isabella Mollega. He received his Petroleum Engineering degree in Valencia, Venezuela. He worked for Amax Nickle Plant in Chalmette Louisiana for 10 years and then Kerr Magee Oil for several years. Village Baptist Church was Rafael's church home for 15 years. He loved to serve the community and share his love for Christ with Village Baptist Church each Sunday. Rafael had a passion for life and a great love for his family. He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, his vivid storytelling and his kind compassionate spirit. He was an excellent jeweler, hunter and carpenter. He shared his love for hunting with his two sons and all of his grandchildren. Rafael was preceded in death by both his parents, Gustavo and Isabella. He is survived by his wife Iris, his two sons, Rafael Jr and Coy, his grandchildren Breanna, Bailey, Isabella, Bristol and Elisabeth, and several siblings and cousins that still reside in Venezuela. Rafael will be deeply missed by all who have known and loved him.
