Cooley, Christopher J. 8/31/1961 - 7/17/2020 Acton, Massachusetts Christopher John Cooley, 58, beloved son of Katherine and the late Peter Cooley of Ann Arbor died peacefully at his home on July 17, 2020. A longtime resident of Ann Arbor, Chris was a graduate of Pioneer High School. He earned a degree in Economics from the University of Michigan. A devoted fan of the University of Michigan, Chris was a zealous fixture at hockey and football games where fans and players alike recognized him by sight because of his short stature and his spirited enthusiasm. Chris had a keen interest in aviation, which led him to obtaining an Aircraft Dispatcher License. After getting his license, Chris worked for Northern Air Cargo in Anchorage, Alaska where his sister and her family lived. Upon returning to Ann Arbor, Chris continued to work as a dispatcher for USA Jet. Chris was an active member of the Center for Independent Living, where he participated in a disabilities awareness program in the Ann Arbor Schools. Chris was also a prominent member of the Little People of America. He attended many LPA conventions. An avid swimmer, Chris rarely missed a day in the pool, sometimes swimming two to three hours at a time. Later in life, Chris developed a love of flowers. He spent countless hours photographing flowers and admiring their beauty. Chris had a gift for helping people understand his disability with compassion and humor. He faced all the hardships that life threw at him with courage and optimism. Chris was the beloved brother of Dean (Cooley) and Sandy Coobac, Anastasia (Cooley) and Mark Jamieson, Demetra (Cooley) and Gil Bristol, and Mary (Cooley) and Lyle Fulton. He was the beloved "Uncle Chris" of his nieces and nephews Andy, Mark, and Jamie Bristol, Katie and Charlie Jamieson, Peter, Madeline and Blake Fulton, and Tim and Matthew Coobac. A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 24, 2020 at 11:00 am at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 3109 Scio Church Road., Ann Arbor, Michigan.
