Emma Ramsay "Emmy" Lorusso
Emma "Emmy" Ramsay Lorusso passed away on Monday, July 13, 2020. Beloved wife of the late Rucky Joseph Lorusso. Loving mother of Peggy L. Burch (Guy) and the late Stephen Charles Lorusso and Rebecca Lorusso. Grandmother of Ryan Lorusso (Tammy), Ramsay Burch, Lily Burch and Eva Burch. Great grandmother of Hannah and Emma Lorusso. Daughter of the late Harry Ramsay and Louise Lipscomb Ramsay. Sister of Margie Burroughs and Bonnie Lingel. Nephews Scott, Trey, Chris, Pierre and niece Liz. Emmy was almost 91 years old and had enjoyed a happy and fulfilled life. She was born in 1929 to Harry Bertram and Louise Lipscomb Ramsay. After a childhood in uptown New Orleans, she lived in Metairie, La. She met the love of her life, Rucky J. Lorusso, from Norwood, Mass. At Southeastern Louisiana University, and they married in 1950, settling in River Ridge, La. During their long marriage they loved their three children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Emmy devoted many selfless years to St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Harahan. She was active in the WSCS at the church and many community and school events. She was still meeting with life-long friends for coffee and friendship. One of Emmy's favorite things was to come to her country home in Vancleave, Miss. to visit with cousins there, swim in the creek and pick blueberries. She was well loved for her generous spirit and kindness. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Metairie Health Care Center for their loving care. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at L. A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home, 2607 Williams Blvd., Kenner on Friday, July 17, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 6:00 p.m. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday July 18, 2020 in Ramsay Cemetery, Vancleave, MS at 11:00 a.m. Due to the current circumstances, everyone is required to wear a mask for the protection of themselves and other attendees.
