George D. Losada Beloved husband, father, grandfather; Air Force veteran George D. Losada, 82, of East Brunswick, N.J., passed away after a long battle with cancer at home on Monday, July 6, 2020. He was born on Nov. 2, 1937, in Newark, N.J. George was one of five children, and the only son of Emanuel and Carolyn Losada. He graduated from Miami Edison High School in 1955, and enlisted in the US Air Force in June of the same year. He completed basic training at Lackland Air Force Base and finished his training at Lowry Air Force Base in Denver for the crash rescue unit. During his enlistment, George served one year in Thule, Greenland, and spent the rest of his enlistment in Youngstown, Ohio, Air Force Base. He remained in the US Air Force Reserves for four more years after his time in Ohio. After completing his service in the Air Force, George attended and graduated mortuary school at the American Academy in New York from 1959 to 1960. He obtained his funeral license in 1964, and worked for Philip Apter and Son for 40 years, retiring in 1999. George called East Brunswick his home for the last 52 years. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, and deeply proud of his Italian and Spanish heritage. Outside of his love for his family, friends, and good food, he enjoyed vacationing with his family, spending time at the shore, attending Broadway musicals, music, history, and politics. George was a 50-year lifetime member of the East Brunswick Elks Lodge #2370 and a member of the National Rifle Association. Surviving are his loving wife of 56 years, Jane B. Losada, along with their two children: daughter, Cheryl L. Losada and son, George D. Losada; his wife, Jean Losada and his grandchildren, Brandon P. Losada and Austin G. Losada, and his sister, Anne Herring and numerous nephews and nieces. George was predeceased by his parents, Emanuel and Carolyn Losada and his sisters, Gloria Werb, Juanita Shell and Virginia Goodwin. The wake will be held on Wednesday, July 15 from 3 to 6 p.m. at Menorah Chapels in Union, N.J. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 16 for family members only. A celebration of George's life and legacy will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in George's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
