James Milton Edwards PALMER TOWNSHIP James M. Edwards, beloved husband of Ethel, went home to be with the Lord on June 15, 2020. He and Ethel would have celebrated their 72nd anniversary on June 19th. Jim passed away peacefully in Atlanta, Ga. Born May 23, 1927, he was predeceased by his parents James H. Edwards and Eleanora M. (Brown) Edwards, and his brother Robert H. Edwards. Jim and Ethel lived in Palmer Township, and had a joyful and full life, traveling, socializing, and cruising. Jim was a community minded person. He was a LifeTime member of the NAACP, a past President of the Easton Paradise Club, and the Palmer Township AARP, a member of the Masons, a long time Membership Chairman of the Easton NAACP, and a member of Local 412 Paper Workers/Dixie Cup. He was a long time member of the Easton YMCA, and he and Ethel were pictured on their annual magazine. They were also honored by Lisa Boscola at the Harrisburg Capitol as Community Active Seniors. He was an active member of Union African Methodist Episcopal Church, Easton; The Greater Shiloh Church, Easton; and a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Lithonia, GA. Jim also enjoyed swimming and scuba diving. After graduating from Easton High School in 1944, Jim worked at Case's Service Station on College Hill where he was well known. Jim then worked many years at Dixie Cup as a First Class Mechanic prior to retiring in 1993. Jim was quick-witted and enjoyed sharing his knowledge and having discussions with young and old. Jim will be greatly missed by all. He is survived by his wife Ethel; daughters: Gail Maffett and spouse Danny Hardie; Linda Edwards; grandson: Debony Maffett; great grandchildren: Debony II and Kiarra Maffett; sisters: Gloria Armstrong and Beverly Hannah; sister-in-law: Andrea Edwards, and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Jim's life will be held at a future date.
