98 (Wing Commander R.A.F. Retd. Minister Retd.) Also known as "Petie", passed peacefully away on Sunday June 28th 2020. Father to Jennifer & and the late Anne, Grandfather to 9 & Great Grandfather to 20. He was born in New Zealand and when he was 9, emigrated to England, with his late parents Gertrude "Jackie" & Thomas "Peter". Also, late brothers Graeme & Barry. Eight months after the ocean voyage, they were joined by twins, Pauline, and the late Paul! He began adulthood in the publishing world, at McMillian & Co. When war broke out, at 18, he joined the R.A.F. He was attached to a Canadian Sea Plane Squadron as a Rear Gunner. Just after midnight on New Years Eve,1945, he was in the Officers Mess & met his wife of 75 years, the late Patricia (nee Rickett). 2 months later they were married. He the was posted to India leaving a new wife & coming home to a new daughter. During his R.A.F career he was a Signals Officer in Fighter Command. Stationed in England, Malta, Paris & the U.S. He also did 2 tours with NATO & was involved with Radar & the birth of the Early Warning systems for both England & the U.S. On retirement, he answered "the Call" & was ordained in 1975 – 45 years ago last week. He served several local churches. Then as a minister, he was honored to counsel, marry, baptize & bury family members. He founded the "Order of St. Luke" a local healing order. For 25 years was Administrative VP to the Academy of Parish Clergy. At 98, he remained active in Rotary, Church Men's Groups, and still met with fellow ministers. He stayed "Young at Heart" living life to the fullest, sharing his, & God's, love with all he met. He will be sorely missed. "RIP – RIP" (Roger Ian Perks!) His Memorial will be at a later date.
