In memory of
Joan G. Nisch Active in local church, cherished grandmother Joan G. Nisch, 89, of Union, N.J., and formerly of Irvington, N.J., passed away on Monday, June 29, 2020, at her home. Joan was born on April 4, 1931, and was the daughter of the late Henry and Gertrude (nee Durst) Foerst. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Leo's Church, Irvington, and a current parishioner of St Genevieve's Church. Joan worked bingo for many years at St. Leo's Church and was part of the social concern committee, served on the parish council as chairperson, and was a Eucharistic minister and lector. She oversaw the gift shop at the church and was involved with the food pantry. She was a member of the tuition review board and St. Leo rosary society. In addition she was a member of Legion of Mary at Highland Lakes and Rosary society. Joan was a member of the Church Women United of Irvington and St. Philomena's organization. Joan was predeceased by her beloved husband, Frank Nisch, and sister, Carol Halloran. She was the loving mother of son, Kenneth F. Nisch and wife, Joan and daughter, Joanne LaRocca and husband Chuck. She was the cherished grandma of Stacey, Dr. Kenneth C. and wife Dr. Kathryn, Lauren, Kimberly and GiGi to Madelyn, Declan and Charlotte. In addition, she is survived by her nieces; Patricia Condo, Barbara Shaw, Kathleen Mooney, and Deborah Mezzo. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2020, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Bradley, Haeberle & Barth Funeral Home, 1100 Pine Ave., Union, N.J. 07083. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., on Thursday, July 2, 2020, at Saint Genevieve's Church, 200 Monmouth Rd., Elizabeth, N.J. 07208.
