Charles "Charlie" Proudfoot, of Swatara Township, born September 4, 1942 passed away on June 26 2020, at the age of 77. Born in Harrisburg, he was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and devoted husband. Charlie was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years Kathleen Hanzel Proudfoot and son David Proudfoot. He was a 56 year Life Member & President of the Enhaut Fire Company and was also a Life Member of the Swatara Township Fire Company. Charlie was known throughout Swatara Township not only because of his fire company involvement but for his 34 years of service to the township as a Highway Department employee which he retired from in 2004. Charlie will be loved and missed by his daughter Kelly Miller (Stephen), granddaughters Ashley DeArce (Angel) & Emily Durbin (Josh), and 5 great-grandchildren. Charlie's care has been entrusted to the Central PA Cremation Society. Due to the current pandemic, the family will suspend services and hold a private family internment for Charlie at the family's convenience. Memorial donations in memory of Charlie can be made to: Swatara Township Parks and Recreation, 599 Eisenhower Blvd., Harrisburg, Pa. 17111. Donations are to be used towards erecting additional benches in honor of Charlie at the Swatara Natural Trail located at the Schiavoni & McNaughton Parks.
