Sten Vernstrom
Sten Vernstrom Aug. 18, 1952 - May 20, 2020 Our Brother, Sten Gustaf Vernstrom, passed away May 20, 2020 (Olympia, Wash.) at the age of 67. Born in Portland and predeceased by parents, Roy and Ruth Vernstrom; and sister, Kristine Iverson (Craig). He is survived by brother, Jon Vernstrom (Trish); sister, Marta Koss (Ken); cousins; nieces and nephews. Sten identified early as a student of Military History, staging battles with hand-painted lead soldiers, using fire-crackers for 'munitions'. Enlisted in U.S. Army, 1971 and went on to a 27 year Military Career, where he served in Germany and Korea. Hired by a Defense Contractor where he was deployed in Operation Iraqi Freedom and retired after 17 years as a Senior Software Engineer. There's nothing Sten loved more than getting together with family, somewhere with a white sand beach, barbeque ribs, and the ability to enjoy his love of deep sea fishing. Sten was a soldier to the end and will be buried with full military honors at an undetermined future date. If you would like to share a story, or be contacted with the time and place of His burial, please e-mail: stenmay202020@gmail.com The Vernstrom Family would be honored to hear from you.
