Amelia R. 'Nina' Brizzi (nee DeMatteis), 82 Owner of Joseph A. Brizzi & Sons, Inc. Funeral Home Nina passed away on June 14, 2020 at the age of 82. Nina was the beloved wife of the late Anthony J. Brizzi "Butch". Loving mother of Denise & Carlo Ferrante, Donnamarie Brizzi & James McCarthy, and Dina Brizzi. Cherished grandmother of Anthony Scarcella, Mario Scarcella, Carlo Ferrante, and James McCarthy. Dear sister of the late Alexander DeMatteis, the late Josephine Bianchino, Angela Wolf, and Rosemarie Kozeniesky. Fond aunt of many nieces and nephews. Nina was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. In 1956 she married her husband Butch; they resided in Borough Park, Brooklyn, NY. She had a tremendous love for the people in Borough Park. She made friendships that lasted a lifetime, great memories of the candy store, St. Catharine of Alexandria Bazar, and the neighbor bars. In 1970, they moved to Middle Loop Road in Great Kills, Staten Island, where they raised their three daughters. Nina had the best times on Middle Loop Road and made the greatest friendships in her life. They quickly became her extended family and she remained close with all of them throughout her life. Nina always said Middle Loop Road was the best block to raise a family on. No matter where she lived, Nina's home was always open; she welcomed everyone and their families. Her children and all of their friends grew up in her home as well. She enjoyed going to Atlantic City, cooking, entertaining, holidays, and throwing the best New Year's Eve parties. Nina was very close with her sisters; they were her first friends and her best friends. They did everything together; shopping, cooking, baking for the holidays, and vacations. When it came to Nina's grandchildren, they held a special place in her heart. Her days usually revolved around them which she truly loved spending time with and entertaining their friends. . Visitation will be held on Friday, June 19th from 3-8pm @ JOSEPH A. BRIZZI & SONS, INC. 3921 Fort Hamilton Parkway, Brooklyn, NY 11218. Blessing 10am Saturday @ St, Catharine of Alexandria Church.
