Eleanor M. Shields, 105 Eleanor M. Shields of Grant City passed away on May 31, 2020, at the age of 105 of natural causes. Eleanor (Burke) was born January 24, 1915, in Port Richmond, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Julia Burke. Eleanor graduated from St. Patrick's School in 1929 in Richmond and then St. Peter's Girls High School in 1933. After she wed Thomas Shields (the Love of her Life) in 1940, she devoted her time to caring for her home and family. She settled in Grant City in 1946. After settling in Grant City in 1946, she became a member and Vice President of the "Ladies Guild" at St. Christopher's School and Altar Society. Later she also became member of the St. Christopher's Socialites & Legion of Mary and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. She was also a member of the Huguenot AARP. She worked as a floor clerk at Sea View Hospital Rehab Center for 10 years starting in 1968 and retiring in 1979. Mrs. Shields enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and Hot Fudge sundaes -almost every day - and spending time with her grandchildren (11) and great-grandchildren (14). She liked to remember the birthdays and anniversaries of her family and friends. She also had various monthly charities. Her husband Tom died in 1998 after 58 years of marriage. Surviving are her three sons, Dr. Thomas Shields (Pat), Richard Shields (Terry), Paul Shields and 2 daughters, Eileen Molina and Dianne Paolicelli. She was predeceased by 2 brothers, Eugene and James Burke and 1 sister, Mary Spall. She was laid to rest in a private family funeral at Moravian Cemetery on June 11, 2020.
