Hannah T. Byrne
Hannah T. Byrne, 90 Mother of three worked as school matron in Tottenvile Hannah Byrne, devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law and grandmother, passed away on June 11, 2020, at age 90. Born in Manhattan, Hannah grew up in the Highbridge section of the Bronx, and often spoke fondly of her childhood friends. She got her first job at Woolworth's while still in high school. After graduation Hannah went to work for the Celanese Corporation. During that time, she met and married her sweetheart, Daniel Byrne. The couple bought a home, and settled in the Stapleton section of Staten Island where they raised three sons, Daniel, Michael and Shawn. After raising her boys, Hannah went to work at Tottenville High School starting as a temporary employee. They hired her permanently as a school matron, because of her ability to fix just about anything. She was known to help out wherever needed including payroll, cleaning, painting, etc. Her co-workers lovingly nicknamed her "Hurricane Hannah". She retired from Tottenville in 1995. Hannah is survived by her sons, Daniel, Michael and Shawn, her daughter-in-law, Christine, and her granddaughter Camryn, who she doted on. If you knew Hannah, you undoubtedly saw pictures of them she carried in her wallet. A viewing will take place at Harmon Funeral Home, Forest Avenue, this Monday, June 15, 2020, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon with practiced social-distancing. Immediately following, a funeral procession from Harmon Funeral Home will depart, followed by interment at Resurrection Cemetery, Hylan Boulevard.
