Helen E. Dewey CANANDAIGUA - Helen E. Dewey, age 103, passed away peacefully at her home on May 21, 2020, with her family by her side. She is survived by her nieces and nephews; and great-nieces, great-nephews and great-great-nephews. She was predeceased by five brothers, Alfred Jr., Robert, Donald, Richard and Ward Dewey; and sister, Dorothy (Dewey) Kinde. Helen was born in Canandaigua and was the daughter of Alfred H. and Janette (Douglass) Dewey. She lived most of her life at the Dewey homestead, formerly known as The Lincoln Hill Inn. Helen was a graduate of Canandaigua Academy. She had the privilege of meeting Helen Keller at a church event during her visit to Canandaigua in the 1920s. Helen was active in the USO during World War II and worked at Railway Signal to support the war effort. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church and a member of a local bowling league. Helen worked at Wayne Drug Store until her retirement in 1978. She was a longtime volunteer at Thompson Hospital and enjoyed dancing and participating in Searchlight class at her church. Helen loved her many afternoon rides throughout the area admiring the beautiful countryside. She was devoted to her nieces and nephews and her greatest joy was spending time with family. A memorial service will be held at a later date and time to be announced. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Canandaigua. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 100 N. Main St., Canandaigua, NY 14424; or Ontario-Yates Hospice, 756 Pre-Emption Road, Geneva, NY 14456.
