In memory of
James A. Cleason
James A. Cleason Canandaigua - James A. Cleason, age 85, passed restfully, on the morning of May 18, 2020, at his Ferris Hills home. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Sandra Cleason; four children, Abram (Kathy) Cleason, Steven (Deana) Cleason, James (Marcia) Cleason and Elizabeth (John) Reimer; 12 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren. James was born and resided in Palmyra until 1981, when he relocated his family to Canandaigua. He was a graduate of Pal-Mac High School and attended Syracuse University, but left during his freshman year, upon the death of his father. This change brought a new challenge of guiding the family gravel and concrete business, the Abram Cleason Company in Wayne County. As President of Abram Cleason, he led the company through growth, recessions and numerous changes until the business sold in 2009. James enjoyed time with his family skiing, vacationing and being on Canandaigua Lake. He served on the Pal-Mac School Board in the 1970's and was a member of The Order of Eastern Star and Masonic Order. James was also a member of the Reform Church of Palmyra and the United Church of Canandaigua. Services are private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to F.F. Thompson Senior Community, c/o Ferris Hills, Canandaigua, NY 14424 or the charity of your choice. Arrangements are by Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home, Inc., Canandaigua. Condolences may be offered at www.johnsonkennedy.com .
