Marie W. Beaver June 22, 1918 - May 20, 2020 OKLAHOMA CITY Marie Winifred (Black) Beaver passed peacefully on May 20, 2020, short of her 102nd birthday. Born in the family home in Agra, OK on June 22, 1918, to Archibald G and Mary Edna Winifred (Walton) Black, began the formation of a virtuous life of a daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and the friend that she would become. She grew up on the family farm in Lincoln County, OK, attending Gable School and graduated in 1936 from Prague High School. After moving to Oklahoma City in 1937, she met her future husband, Frank Vernon Beaver, in 1939. They were married in December of 1943 while Frank's Seabee unit was on leave from Guadalcanal. They had two sons, George and Terry. She was well-known by her bakery business, creating beautiful and delicious birthday, shower, wedding, and anniversary cakes along with her party sandwiches. Her cakes and sandwiches were requested for family and office party events, including an event for President Gerald Ford. She was preceded in passing by her parents; sisters, Virginia Black and Lucy (Black) McHan; brother, Archibald Black; and husband, Frank. Her legacy is survived and carried on through her sons; daughter-in-law, Diana; her grandchildren, Michelle, William, and Lauren; great-grandchildren, Kaydon and Ryle; as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins. Private services will be directed by Bill Merritt Funeral Home in Bethany with burial at the Chapel Hill Cemetery.
