Richard A. Brueckner April 12, 1962 - May 20, 2020 Richard A. Brueckner 58, of Portland, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, May 20, 2020. Rich was born in Milwaukee, Wisc., to Richard and Patricia Brueckner. He lived in the Minneapolis, Minn., area before moving to Portland where he helped raise his son, Logan, with his former wife, Lisa O'Connor. Rich was an avid writer, publisher, and technology pundit focused on high performance computing. He acquired inside-HPC.com in 2010 and had expanded his online publications to include inside-BigData. With over 25 years of HPC experience at Cray Research, SGI, and Sun Microsystems, Rich was known to many in the industry as "the guy in the Red Hat." When he was not working, Rich kept busy writing fiction, cartoons, and making documentary films for charity. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Gmc5XPCg3A Rich is survived in death by his son, Logan; and his mother, Patricia Brueckner. He was a big brother to Penny Brueckner, Mary (Tony) Katarincic and Valerie (Garrett) Grissom. He is further survived by nephews, Keaton and Donovan Katarincic; and nieces, Hailie and Paige Bartelt and Sophia Katarincic. Rich will be missed by many friends from Muu Muu's, his favorite hangout spot. Rich was preceded in death by his father, Richard D. Brueckner; and grandparents. Due to the Covid-19 crisis, a memorial service will be planned at a later date.
