DOREEN SYBIL KIERNAN
(nee Plummer) of Sarasota, Florida and Cleveland Heights, Ohio, passed away May 20, 2020. Devoted wife of William J. Sr., (deceased) and mother to William Jr. (deceased), Sharon Tripodo, Timothy, Sean (Allison), Brian (Elizabeth), Colleen Passalacqua (deceased) and Dion (Elizabeth); grandmother to 10, great-grandmother to seven. Born July 21, 1920 in Delhi, India where her father was stationed as a colonel in the British Royal Army. She attended The British School in Simla, but was recalled to England at the start of the Second World War and drafted into the Royal Army Service Corps. She met William, an American serving in the U.S. Army, married in London and moved to Cleveland after the war. While raising seven children, she helped build the family business. In addition to her love of family, travel and her curiosity for all things new, she was an accomplished athlete and played tennis well into her 80s. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to The Veterans Association of America, P.O. Box 309, Audubon Station, New York, New York 10032, United States. A private funeral service for immediate family will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at Schulte & Mahon-Murphy Funeral Home.
