Dorothy Mae Bedard, 91, formerly of Steuben Street passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 16, 2020 at Vero Nursing & Rehabilitation in South Hadley. Dorothy was born in Springfield on February 16, 1929, the daughter of the late Henry and Helen (Belliveau) Colson. Dorothy was raised in Springfield, attending local schools including Sacred Heart Grammar School and graduated from Sacred Heart High School. Dorothy enjoyed 56 wonderful years of marriage to her husband, Paul Bedard. She worked over 30 years for New England Telephone on Worthington Street in Springfield before retirement. She was a communicant of the former St. Matthews Church in Indian Orchard. She leaves her devoted children; Helen Joyce and her husband Jay of Granby, Audrey LaRoche and her partner Steven Hebert of Chicopee, Mary Graham of Vero Beach, FLA., and Martin Bedard of Indian Orchard and Richard Bedard of Monson. Her eight cherished grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She was sadly predeceased by her husband, Paul and two sons, Alan and Paul Bedard. Due to social restrictions, a private Funeral service for Dorothy was held at RATELL FUNERAL HOME, 200 Main St., Spfld on Friday, May 22, 2020. A private interment will take place at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam. Donations in Dorothy’s memory may be made to the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield, 577 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104 or the Granby Council on Aging, 10 W State St, Granby, MA 01033
