Sam Griffin May 7, 1942 - May 18, 2020 Sam Griffin passed away May 18, 2020 from complications of brain cancer. He was surrounded by his wife and his children. Sam was born in Grants Pass, Ore., but grew up in Dunsmuir, Calif. The oldest of four boys, Sam enjoyed spending his time outdoors and called the mountains his backyard. He moved to Portland in 1960 where he graduated high school and took on various jobs. Sam never met a stranger and formed many friendships in the Portland area that lasted until his death. In 1969 he married his wife, Jacque and they moved to Vancouver, Wash., where they started their life and family together. In 1977, Sam started working in Advertising Sales at the Columbian newspaper and remained there until his retirement. A man of faith, Sam was very active in his congregation and spent considerable time helping others. A beloved husband, father and brother, Sam was always there for others and was selfless until the very end. Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and Leon Griffin. He is survived by his wife of 50+ years, Jacque; daughters, Melissa (Jason) Smith, Katy (Marcus) Ulloa; son, Byron (Ivy) Griffin; and three brothers, Raymond, Frank and Tom. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Micah and Mercedes Griffin, Griffin and Lucas Smith, and Miles and Oliver Ulloa. Due to the coronavirus there will be no services.
