Melvin Richard Salzwedel
Melvin Richard Salzwedel Sept. 25, 1932 - May 8, 2020 Mel Salzwedel was born in Portland and was raised on the family farm in Schefflin, Ore. After graduating from Hillsboro High School he enlisted in the Air Force. While stationed in Mountain Home, Idaho he met his future wife, Carol. After his service Mel returned to Schefflin and made a home for his family. In 1985 Mel and Carol moved to Hillsboro, Ore. Mel spent his life driving trucks and farming. He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey; and wife, Carol. Mel is survived by his two sons, Kim (Cass) and Mark (Dianne); seven grandchildren their spouses; and four great-grandchildren. Mel had Alzheimer's in the latter months of his life and would often ask the whereabouts of his wife, son Jeff and his parents. Forever an impatient man, he departed this world May 8, 2020 to find them. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a memorial will be planned at a later date.
