In memory of
Wanda C. Bachhofer November 24, 1931 - May 16, 2020 LUTHER Wanda Claudine (Gibson) Bachhofer was born in Waurika, Oklahoma, to William Claude and Ruby Gertrue (Simpson) Gibson. Wanda entered into eternal rest surrounded by her family at home following a brief illness. Wanda grew up on her family's farm in Jefferson County, Oklahoma, and attended Ringling Public Schools. She married Carl Oren Bachhofer on 25 December 1947 in Henrietta, Texas, and they raised four children together. For many years, Wanda worked in the women's clothing department at the Sear's located at Shepherd Mall in Oklahoma City. In 1978, Wanda and Carl moved to an acreage in Luther, Oklahoma, with their eldest son. From that vantage point, she played a pivotal role in her family's growth and happiness. Wanda was an excellent seamstress who not only altered clothing to perfection, but also designed clothing and christening gowns for her grandchildren. One would be hard pressed to find a better cook or gardener than Wanda. "DeeDa" taught her grand-children and great-grand-children to play chess and backgammon, loved a good game of dominoes, an d enjoyed the occasional margarita. She laughed easily and loved unconditionally. While we remain devastated at her passing, our loss is tempered by the knowledge that Wanda is reunited with her lost family and watches over all of us with love and affection. Wanda was preceded in death by her husband Carl; sons Dennis and William Scott; her parents; siblings Ruby Louise, Ida Laverne, and Donnie Allen Gibson. Wanda is survived by one son, Aaron (Geri) Bachhofer of Luther, Oklahoma; one daughter, Sherry (Richard) Schuhmacher of Austin, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; two brothers, Verdo Gibson of Lone Grove, and Max Gibson of Ringling; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Mercy Hospice - especially Sonja Pound - for the advice and guidance they provided during Wanda's illness. To honor her final wishes, Wanda will be cremated and there will be no service.
