GARNER - Arthur James (Jimmy) Shackelford III, 75, of Garner passed away peacefully at UNC Rex Hospital on Saturday, May 16, 2020 surrounded by family. A native of Wilson County, he was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur James Shackelford Jr. and Thelma Louise Smith Shackelford. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Dianne Pass Shackelford, his daughters, Stacey Coyte (Brett) and Holly Green (Leo), stepson, Shaun Glosson (Natalie), his grandchildren, Candler and Warren Matthews, Kyle and Toby Glosson, Leo Green (Allison), Gaillard Green, Georgia Coyte, his beloved dog, Nova, who never left his side and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by numerous cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law that he loved spending time with and too many Facebook friends to list. Jimmy retired as a site contractor in the construction industry. He was also an accomplished athlete and loved the game of basketball, golf, tennis and baseball. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle and cousin. Jimmy lived a fulfilled life in the only way he knew how and that was the "Shack" way. He was known for posting beautiful pictures in the late evening on Facebook. As we say we love you and rest easy dear Jimmy and until we meet again, in his own words…. "AND THAT'S THE WAY IT IS. GOOD NIGHT AND GOOD LUCK". A memorial service will be held at a later date.
