Chambers, Juanita Mae Gieseke 4/18/1929 - 5/16/2020 Saline, Michigan Juanita Mae Gieseke Chambers (Nita) of Brecon Village in Saline, Michigan passed away peacefully on May 16, 2020 at the age of 91. Nita is survived by her husband of 69 years, Joseph Smith Chambers; her three children, Dan Chambers (Jean), Carl Chambers (Heather) and Brian Chambers (Lauren); five grandchildren, Moria, Laura, Joel, Miranda and Ben; one great grandchild, Zoe; her brother, Cliff Gieseke (Gloria) and her sister Laura Johnson (Norm). She was predeceased by her parents, John and Estella Gieseke of Pensacola, Florida. Nita was born in Detroit, Michigan on April 18, 1929. She graduated from the High School of Commerce, Detroit, and went to work for Detroit Edison, in the Technical Files Section of the company library. It was there at work that she met the love of her life and they had 69 wonderful years together. Nita took great pride in the activities and accomplishments of her sons and grandchildren, and she attended many of their school, music, and sports events. Nita enjoyed making and sharing peanut brittle, taking yoga classes, participating in bible study, learning calligraphy, and being a Cub Scout Den Mother. She also enjoyed traveling in their camper, participating in Elderhostel sessions, travel to Greece and Scandinavia, and Caribbean cruises. Nita enjoyed her work as a long-time volunteer for the gift shops in the Detroit Mercy Hospital and the Saline Hospital. She also greatly enjoyed singing with her husband Joe in the One Voice Gospel Choir – including travel concert tour trips within the US and a trip to Scotland, Wales and Ireland. Nita loved to participate in all the activities at her church, St. Paul United Church of Christ in Saline, Michigan. Nita will be dearly missed for her determination, huge heart and her dedication to those she loved. The family would like to thank all of the caregivers and staff at Brecon Village and Arbor Hospice for their care and compassion.
