William Frank "Willie" Felong
William 'Willie' Frank Felong, 80 Loving, kind and caring husband, father, grandfather and brother William "Willie" Frank Felong, 80, passed away on Monday, May 18,2020, at JFK hospital in Edison, N.J., from complications of the coronavirus. Willie was born on May 25, 1939, to William and Helen Felong in the Tompkinsville area of Staten Island, N.Y. He graduated from McKee High School in 1956, and enlisted in the U.S. Navy. A proud veteran, he served from 1957 to 1963, spending three years on the USS Cotten DD669 and emerged as a petty officer 3rd class. Upon leaving the military, he was employed as a sanitation worker and attended Staten Island College, while working part time doing maintenance at an apartment complex. He worked over 20 years for the NYC Department of Sanitation and retired as an officer in 1990. He enjoyed his retirement by spending time with family and friends, taking trips to Atlantic City, and annual trips to his vacation home in Florida. Surviving is his beloved wife of 57 years, Cora "Nancy" Felong; his two children, Stella and William Felong; his sister, Mary Felong and four grandchildren, Sean, Nicole, Lucy and Mark. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Helen Felong and two siblings, Michael Felong and Helen Conti. William will be remembered as a loving, kind, caring husband, father, grandfather and brother. He will be dearly missed. At this time, arrangements are being held in private and a memorial service will be held at a future date.
