Peter Vecchi TOK, Alaska - Peter Vecchi, age 70, passed away on April 20, 2020, after a brief illness. He is survived by his brother, David (Melody) Vecchi; niece, Nikki Vecchi; nephews, Wyatt and Luke Hamon; aunt, Ann Hogan; and numerous cousins. Peter was born in Canandaigua and was the son of Anthony and Virginia (Pierce) Vecchi. He was a graduate of St. Mary's School, class of 1963, and Canandaigua Academy, class of 1967. Peter spent most of his life working construction throughout the west, mostly in Colorado, Alaska and Washington. He loved his work on the Alaska pipeline and later helped repave runways and roads in Alaska and Washington. For a while, he had his own landscaping business on the island of Maui. Later in life, Peter became an avid hiker who climbed several 14,000-feet peaks. Peter made lifelong friends wherever he went. He enjoyed hiking with friends and cooking for them. Peter was always interested in what was going on in their lives and always ready to lend a helping hand. He was a kind, thoughtful and helpful soul who will be dearly missed. A celebration of life will be held at a later date and time to be announced. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Canandaigua. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 6725 Lyons St., East Syracuse, NY 13057.
