In memory of
Barbara Jean Griffin
Barbara Griffin died peacefully on May 1, 2020 after a short illness at the age of 93. She was surrounded by her family at home during her final moments. Barbara was born in Long Beach, California on October 23, 1926 to Beryl Bible Boynton and Pearl Mae (Brewster) Boynton. The family moved to Riverside where she attended high school. She obtained her nursing degree and graduated as a Registered Nurse in Los Angeles and then served as a Nursing Cadet during the war. Barbara married her high school sweetheart, Donald McDonald and raised their three children in Fullerton, California. Barbara was widowed in 1969 and remarried some years later. While working as the Nursing Supervisor of the Outpatient Clinic and Emergency Room of the Orange County Medical Center, she obtained her master's degree from the University of Redlands. Barbara always wanted to live at the ocean, so after retiring from 20 years of nursing, she moved with her husband Wayne Griffin to Mendocino County in 1978. As a businesswoman, Barbara invested and managed several commercial rental properties in Fort Bragg and was active in several Mendocino clubs including the Soroptimist and the Mendocino Study Club. She continued to volunteer at Mendocino Coast District Hospital until last year. Barbara is survived by her three daughters, Judy, Sherrie, and Lynn; two grandchildren, Branson and Lindsay; and two great grandchildren, Naomi and Tatum. She was buried in Fullerton, California on May 6th with her family in attendance.
