In memory of
John Thomas Russ III
Russ III, John Thomas 7/5/1944 - 5/9/2020 Ypsilanti, MI John Thomas Russ III was born on July 5, 1944 and died on May 9, 2020 from complications of COVID19 at Michigan Medicine Hospital. He was born in Ypsilanti, MI to parents John T. Russ Jr. and Laura Mabel Russ. He was almost a firecracker baby!! Well, he was a firecracker, just not born on the 4th of July. He could make a joke out of anything. Especially, in his older years when things didn't always turn out right. If we weren't laughing, we would be crying, so we chose laughter. John liked to spend his birthdays on vacation and the only time he did not was when he was working over time during shut down at Ford Motor Company, Rawsonville Plant where he worked for 38 years. He liked to spend his time at Jellystone Park, in Traverse City, MI and Piedmont, AL visiting his Mother-n-Law & other family. In his later years he liked to go to the UP (God's Country as he called it) with his Wife Darlene and his Best Friend Melvin Mills. John is pre-deceased by both his parents and his 2 sons, Gregory Scott Russ and David Harold Ecker-Russ. John is survived by his wife Darlene Russ of 55 years (high school sweethearts), his daughter Lorie Schofield (Eric) of Belleville, MI, daughter Lisa Russ (Javid) of Ypsilanti, MI & daughter Lisbeth Krause (Rob) of Rapid City, MI, and 5 grandchildren:Brieanna Schofield, Abigayle, Hayden, & David Krause & Little Liam Moraveji (his look alike). He is survived by many cousins and sister n laws and brother n laws. John was an only child, but his best friend Melvin Mills who also survives was closer than a brother whom he shared his life with since the first grade, they were buddies to the end. A memorial will be planned at a later date. In Liu of Flowers, please donate to Michigan's Foster Care Children at michiganfostercarecloset.org for John and Darlene were Foster Care Parents for more than 30 years.
